My friends had a baby a few months ago. I’ve been a bad friend and had not given them a visit. This afternoon, they threw a little party and we finally got to meet the brand-new person. He was kinda out of it, though. He was so sleepy. I was more fascinated by how relaxed, happy, and beautiful the new mom was.
Sunday night. Since it was a nice day, we decided to grill burgers. While P grilled outside, I made vegetables; Asparagus, yellow squash, and mushrooms lightly sauteed in oil and garlic. Although it is much better than a few years ago, P still tends to focus on carbohydrate and protein sources. So, often, I end up being in charge of veges.
Burgers were okay. We put too much bread crumb in them, we think. It was not juicy enough.
Went to Steampunk Festival about 30 minutes outside the city. It was interesting, but I think the guys had more fun looking at women in corsets than I did looking at men. I was set on getting the steampunk goggles, but after careful thinking, I realize that I’d never use them. It was a fun event for taking photos, having beer in the bar and watching the costumes.
There’s no other photos today than those of the Shiba Inu event. And there are so many of them!
We were surrounded by bouncy curly tails. It was a 3-hour-long Shiba-petting party for us humans.
I used to really believe in “0% Nature, 100% Nurture” in regards to everything. I believed it when adults said “if you put your mind to it, you can achieve anything”. When my elementary-school classmate said “I’m stupid. I can’t do that” to me when I attempted to explain a math solution to her, I was flustered. She just wasn’t trying hard enough, I thought to myself. When people attributed my good grades to my parents’ “good DNA”, I felt completely offended. (I’m still offended actually.)
There is this amazing park in the town of Brookline.
Ticks are still heavily occupying our minds. We pulled out two that were attached quite firmly into K-dog’s skin yesterday morning. And one of the bites has since turned bright red. Even after we got home last night, both P and I found ticks on our clothes. We took showers right away, and in the shower, I found one walking on my knee. It has been very stressful.
Our pup is a fearful one. Our visit to the vet’s office this morning for the annual checkup/shots surely was stressful for him. In the waiting room where I shot the photo (on the right), he always refuses to stay on the floor like all other dogs. He insists on hopping up on the bench, sits very close to us, and freezes. It hasn’t changed since he was very little.
I was very excited about getting a Papaya from Whole Foods, thinking how sweet and delicious it would be. I had never tasted it before. I even had to Google how to cut it open and how to serve it.
Well, the whole experience was quite disappointing. I ate 1/4 of it and the rest went bad in the fridge because I just didn’t feel like eating it. I will keep trying other unfamiliar fruits, but I don’t think I’ll be buying another Papaya again.
Well sort of. I live with those boys, and they are definitely more than just roommates.
I like living with them, but sometimes, I wish they would just get a room and not be so lovey dovey all the time.
:p
We are having a real tough time with this little guy’s hatred for nail clipping. We haven’t succeeded in cutting any in recent months. Since his nails are, as a result, getting longer and curlier, we decided that instead of the regular forest walks, he is going to walk on paved surfaces at least for half an hour to an hour every day.
Those flowers on the trees make me miss Japan.
