  • ONE PHOTO A DAY FOR 366 DAYS | about this project
  • 112/366 | Tickfest

The day started out nicely. P made super breakfast sandwiches for us after being woken up by the sunlight coming in from the top of the yurt. He cooked the bacon first on the gas grill, then put the strips in between the bread. He dropped a raw egg in the middle of the bread, then closed the sandwich maker thing. We put it above the fire, and waited. It was perfect breakfast, indeed.

  • 111/366 | Yurt Weekend

We spent the weekend with 7 friends in Maine. We rented 3 yurts. One for us (P, K-dog, and me), one for 5 people who wanted to stay together and save money, and one for another couple.

  • 109/366 | Office Mates

Almost everybody gets their own individual office room, at my work place (a software development company). Those who have been with the company longer get to pick the rooms before others, so the newbies end up in the offices that are windowless. And this company is filled with old-timers. It’s quite normal for people to work there for 15, 20 years straight.

  • 108/366 | Return

Two of this beautiful iPad cases (of different colors) came in the mail one day. One for each of us. P’s was 100% fine. Mine, not so much. Its iPad locking/unlocking mechanism was not working at all.

I am too lazy to try and take a nice and meaningful photo today.

So here is the photo of one of our shelves. The wooden figure is P’s. He found it in his old apartment when he moved in. I always wanted to have this, so I was happy that this came with P when he moved in.

  • 106/366 | Easter Sunday

For Greek Orthodox Easter Sunday, P’s aunt, unkle, cousins and their kids (one boy and one girl) came over to spend the day. According to the weather forecast, it was going to be rainy. Fortunately, it turned out to be just a really beautiful day.

  • 105/366 | But what about them?

When I was in Japan, over 20 years ago, I thought that inequality between men and women hardly ever existed in the U.S. I thought American people were so progressive that they would laugh at how behind Japanese culture was when it came to sexism.

I have lived in this country for a long time, and I can say with confidence that I was totally wrong.

  • 104/366 | Then and Now

Our pup is a fearful one. Our visit to the vet’s office this morning for the annual checkup/shots surely was stressful for him. In the waiting room where I shot the photo (on the right), he always refuses to stay on the floor like all other dogs. He insists on hopping up on the bench, sits very close to us, and freezes. It hasn’t changed since he was very little.

  • 103/366 | Papaya

I was very excited about getting a Papaya from Whole Foods, thinking how sweet and delicious it would be. I had never tasted it before. I even had to Google how to cut it open and how to serve it.

Well, the whole experience was quite disappointing. I ate 1/4 of it and the rest went bad in the fridge because I just didn’t feel like eating it. I will keep trying other unfamiliar fruits, but I don’t think I’ll be buying another Papaya again.

  • 102/366 | Showing Off

We met up with P’s friend at this park while walking our dog. The only purpose of meeting up was to let them (the friend and the pup) meet. Basically, we wanted to show her the dog. She complied because she liked dogs and happened to live near the park.

We talked about doing this before, but we always got to this park well after sunset. Showing our dog to the friend in the dark was not going to achieve the maximum cuteness effect. Today, I happened to come home a little earlier. The light was still out.

We arrived a bit earlier, so we stood around and waited. The pup was itching to run around, but I held the leash in place, while taking this shot.

  • 101/366 | Stain Removal

This trail of white powder started in one of the two elevators. It was halted on the first floor with its door open. The powder went all the way to the front entrance of the building, then out through the glass doors.
