There is a lobster shack in the middle of our city. Even stranger, it is in the middle of a residential area, buried in between apartment buildings.
I paid 15 dollars for a “lobster salad sandwich” there today. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the lobster in the sandwich, it was definitely not worth 15 dollars.
We spent some hours in a suburban shopping mall during the day. It was sunny and bright outside, but also hot and humid. I must say, I’d much rather be inside when it is muggy outside.
I’m always looking at their backs, as they walk ahead of me. Always.
While loading my pup into my car before driving him to a park for an early evening walk, we saw this huge group of people riding down my street. I wonder if there was some march for a cause or something.
Not a good week for stories.

I spent all day yesterday without meeting up with any friends. I spent it alone with the dog all day long. It was great. I could do the same for at least 7 more days… I am such a hermit.
Fortunately or unfortunately, there are also social obligations. My day started with a dog playdate in the morning, which meant hanging out with the fellow Shiba owners. I wish I could start my day at the dog park like I did today, every day. I’d be a happier person.
In the afternoon, there was a graduation party for a friend at a river side park. Beer, steaks, sausages, burgers…. Summer is really here.
While growing up in Japan, I learned a lot of plant names from daily casual conversations with adults. They were always talking about season changes in terms of trees, wild flowers, wild vegetables, etc. etc. I always assumed that adults were supposed to know those things.
I am alone this weekend. Well, not entirely. There’s the pup. But I’m the only human in the house. So far, it has been very slow, very quiet, quite random, and I’m completely uncommitted to anything for rest of the weekend. It’s nice to not have to think about anybody except for myself (and the pup).
Currently, I’m planning to make doggie treats from beef livers, while having a leftover seaweed salad from the Korean grocery store, make some quick Japanese style pickles with the cucumber, while drinking a very cheap bottle of Malbec. I’ve been watching random netflix movies, all evening. I am so excited for the rest of the weekend.
Bleh (this is my porch)
Driving home, I saw this huge RV and a trailer both covered with head-turning crazy messages. For example, on the side of the hitched trailer that faced me said “SATAN USED WOMEN TO KEEP MEN LUSTING AFTER THE FLESH. SHAME ON THE WOMEN.”
The whole thing was driving through a very busy square silently. Creepy.
