I left work early enough to have a nice 1.5 hour walk in the woods with the dog late afternoon. It’s something I try to do every Friday, during spring and summer.
This park is amazing. It has little lakes, little hills, woods, rocks, and numerous paths. It’s right next to an interstate, so it is not completely quiet, but it’s very convenient for us to get to.
It’s our monthly cleaning day. We try to turn everything up side down and vacuum & wipe. We try to re-set the dirty house back to a clean house, as much as the time allows.
We were off to a vacation in Colorado last month, and we can’t remember if we made up the missed cleaning day after we came back. The electronic piano that I never play seemed extremely dusty today. My feeling is that we never made it up. Eewww.
Spring is really here. Our town is decorated with flowers on the trees on every street. It is just beautiful. It makes it that much harder to go to work every morning (where I don’t have any windows while witting at my desk).
It’s difficult, even after the daylight savings kicks in, for me to be home before dark. But I try just so that we can walk the K-dog before the darkness sets in. There are some more options as to where we can go if there’s some light left outside.
Today, we managed to walk along the Charles. It felt good. I should be able to do this more often, if only I can get my productivity engine started earlier at work.
There’s a coffee shop opening right across from our home, soon. The problem is, this place has been “opening soon” for about 8 months. The windows are covered with paper, so we can’t really look inside. Such a long delay has made the place look so mysterious.
We knew it had a sister shop in the next town over. We decided ventured out there for a cup of latte and some insider info.
This has been a common view at any (non-classical) shows nowadays. Everybody has some sort of image or video recording device in their pocket, and everybody tries to take home pieces of memory from the show. I also take photos at shows, and I totally get the motivation.
It’s just that sometimes, when people try to take a video of an entire song, you just end up with this really bright screens between you and the stage, and it can be distracting. Often times, I am fascinated by how good the image qualities are on those devices that I keep staring into their screens.
Fortunately, I use the DSLR or x100 in those situations, and they have the rear screens that can be turned off…
While walking the dog at a city park, we saw a couple standing together, looking up to a tree together and smiling together. Our dog started playing with their dog, so we paused next to them. They, without looking away from the tree, told us that there was an owl up there.
I had never seen one in real life before. It was just sitting there, being cute and fuzzy. Of course, our eyes got fixated on the wise-looking bird, right away. The first couple left meanwhile, and another group of people passed by. We pointed the owl out to them. They were fascinated. They also got stuck there, as we walked away, looking up and smiling.
Friends invited us for dinner tonight. They cooked up those delicious pieces of beef. I only finished half of mine, unfortunately. Everybody else finished their piece, I think.
We talked for hours and hours over the steak and beer. There were some important topics that we did need to hash out and vent, and boy did we vent. It felt good. It felt like we had allies. It was a great way to spend Saturday night.
I worked from home today. It was for a not-so-good reason, but I still loved sitting on the couch with the pup next to me and doing the work. We drove K-dog out to a very nice park for a walk in the afternoon. Since P does not own a car, whenever I can be home during the week, we get excited and take the dog somewhere fun.
I began this week worrying and grumpy about the abnormal heat, but look at me now. I’ve already gotten so used to it. This was another gorgeous summer-like day in New England.
Our neighbors have been having dinner parties or late-might chats on their porches. We felt like we had to do something special outside, too. So, we had the takeout Indian food outside with candle lights.
Today was a stupid day on which I did a stupid thing and kept obsessing about it all day long. The dinner outside definitely helped the day to end a little better.
It’s so peaceful when I sit out on the porch with my new toy and leisurely surf the Web for funny pictures and read from the endless news source. This week’s warmth is unseasonable and worrisome, but I did sit back and enjoy it tonight…
Quiet Monday at work. It is because Tuesday is a holiday in Japan, and people there took their Monday off, too. Normally, when I get to work at the beginning of the week, I have the inbox full of messages from people in Japan office who have already completed their Monday. And these days, they are my main focus of communications other than the vendors. This means tomorrow will also be a quiet. Hooray!
Another very warm day and very warm night. This field is normally without any lights by the time we visit for a walk. Tonight, there were people kicking some balls and jogging around the tracks. Awesome for them, a bummer for my dog who likes peace and quiet.
